My name is Rebecca Torr, commonly known in the snowboard industry by my nickname “Possum.” I am a professional snowboarder from Tauranga, New Zealand currently residing in Southern California. I grew up in a small town about five minutes from the beach. Once or twice a year, I would do a trip to the mountains in the North Island of New Zealand with my family. I first tried skiing, but then my older brothers and sister started snowboarding and naturally I wanted to be like them. I picked up snowboarding when I was 17 years old. Some of my career highlights include a fourth place overall at the 2011/2012 Dew Tour, second overall Dew Tour 2010/2011, Rookie of the Year at the 2010 Dew Tour, ninth at the 2011 European X-Games, and tenth at the 2012 X-Games in Aspen. In 2014, I was selected as a member of the New Zealand Olympic Team where I represented my homeland at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
